Uganda Rwanda primate trekking activities are an icing on the cake of the main activities one can engage in while on a trip in Africa.Gorilla permits, chimp permits, Golden monkey permits are the parses you need for these activities. Mountain Gorillas are recognized as those that are whole world’s most endangered species and more than 880 are the only left in the world. The half of the total is well known to be found in Uganda and the rest of the population is found within Rwanda’s Volcanoes and In the DR Congo.

While in Rwanda.

As per for the year 2015, there are 10 mountain gorilla families that are trekked in Rwanda, this means there are 80 permits sold out each and every day. Only 8 people are permitted to be in one group to trek one particular Gorilla family.

Gorilla permits.

Rwandan Gorilla permits currently go for $1,500 per person trekking per day’s activity, there is also a freshly introduced Gorilla package which is exclusive and it allows booking the entire family of the Gorillas at a price of $15,000 and it includes special personalized tour guide services. All this is part of the contribution you make that goes to the conservation of the mountain gorillas program. There are always armed rangers or guards who keep following the mountain gorilla families’ whole day and night to make sure they locate them easily for the trekkers. At the park headquarters of Kinigi, park wardens allocate the trekkers to the groups they can trek depending on the fitness of the trekker or even how long a visitor may want to trek the endangered apes.

Mountain Gorilla permits are charged $1500 per person per trek.

Dian Fossey Hike is charged $75.

Crater Lake Hike is charged $75.

Golden Monkey trekking are charged $100.

NOTE:

Please note that now both Uganda and Rwanda do not have low season discounts on the Gorilla permits, you will pay the same amount regardless of the season you plan to trek the endangered apes.

Your Gorilla permit only allows you to go Gorilla trekking. It has never included any other thing like transport, meals, porters, accommodation, souvenirs, tips, drinks and others in that circle.

It is best you book your gorilla permit in advance especially during the high seasons of June to September and December to February, simply to avoid inconveniences and miss outs.
