Day by Day

Day 1:

On arrival at Entebbe International airport, you will be met by our representative who will transfer you to Lake Victoria Hotel Entebbe or Traveller’s inn.

Day 2:

After breakfast {time to be advised locally} drive through Kampala city to Jinja town which is best known for Source of the Nile. It is characterized by brewery industries and colorful plantations of tea and Sugar cane. Visit the source of the Nile on Lake Victoria. Afternoon drive to Mbale town for dinner and overnight at a local hotel.

Day 3:

After an early breakfast, go for nature walk to the Sipi Falls and discover the four spectacular water falls on the river Sipi which originates from Mt. Elgon. The starting point is from the Crow’s nest, a camping and lodging site which organises community projects and training of local guides. You will see the caves and plantations of coffee, matooke and sugar cane. We ensure that you have packed lunch. In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4:

After breakfast, leave Mbale for for Murchison falls national park. On a panoramic drive north-west you will stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for a nature walk to see rhinos in their wild, a unique experience of Uganda. The journey is long but enjoyable as you go through typical homesteads and farms. Dinner and overnight at ziwa guest house.

Day 5:

After a cup of coffee, proceed to Murchison Falls national park which is the largest protected area in Uganda, which is named after the falls on the Victoria Nile. Relax a bit on the top of the spectacular falls where you can see the Nile’s perfected beauty as it compresses and squeezes itself from over 1km wide down. The 43 metre drop of the falls creates a thunderous roar and a beautiful rainbow in a plume of spray, the best thing to ever happen to the Nile. In the evening, go for game drive on the northern bank where you will spot elephants, Cape buffalos, Rothschild giraffes, Hartebeest and much, much more. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 6:

After breakfast, embark on early morning game drive in the park. Return to the lodge. Relax at the swimming pool side. After lunch, you will sail upstream by boat to the calm Victoria Nile, at the base of water falls just below the devil’s cauldron. Here you can marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over a 17km stretch you will see elephants, waterbucks, Uganda kobs and more. This area is also a habitat of many bird species including Goliath herons, Egyptian geese, and others. Return to the lodge or rest camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 7:

After a heavy breakfast, drive from Murchison south-west through the Albertine escarpment of the western rift valley. We ensure that you have packed lunch. Drive through Hoima the town of Bunyoro kingdom passing through tea plantations and traditional homesteads. You arrive at the colorful town of Fort Portal, the city of Toro Kingdom in the shadow of inter-locking spurs of mountains on the moon {Rwensori Mountain}. Dinner and overnight at motel or resort hotel.

Day 8:

From motel/ hotel, we drive to Mweya safari lodge of Queen Elizabeth national park approximately 3hrs. During your visit, you will have time to enjoy game drive, a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and an opportunity to trek Chimpanzee in Kyambura Gorge {subject of permits being available}. Dinner and overnight here.
Day 9: After a cup of tea, embark on early morning game drive along Kasenyi Tracks and Queen’s Mile, in the park and expect to see lions, Spotted hyenas, elephants, Cape buffalos, warthogs, mongoose and much, much more. Drive back to the lodge for lunch. After lunch, go for chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura Gorge. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10:

After a light breakfast, have a morning game drive in search of tree climbing lions in Ishasha found only in this area of Uganda. Here, population of lions enjoys resting on the fig tree when the day is warm. Enjoy savanna view of acacia trees. Proceed to Bwindi impenetrable for Gorilla tracking. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma homestead or lodge.

Day 11:

You will be escorted to the national park headquarters to meet your guides for your Gorilla tracking experience. An early morning trek into the impenetrable forest on the slopes of volcanoes, led by experienced guide will definitely bring you into the family of Mountain Gorillas. These massive primates are extremely endangered species, only 650 remaining in the whole world. Trekking may take 6hrs or longer. Since these animals are wild, sighting can not be guaranteed. However the percentage of success is 90%

Day 12:

Optional forest walks to look for birds and other primates or just relax in this beautiful area. You can visit the curio shops; meet local communities including the batwa and people running the orphanage.

Day 13:

Take a breakfast before making a journey along rolling hills with beautiful scenery to Lake Bunyonyi. These rolling hills are known as the “Switzerland of Africa” Have a stop over at Bakiga museum in Kabale to discover the culture of the people living in the area. Lunch at one of these places: Arcadia cottages, Overland Camp, Bunyonyi Safaris Resort and Bushara Island Resort, with a unique and amazing view of Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest in Uganda. Afternoon, go for boat rides inside the lake to various islands for bird watching and sight seeing. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14:

After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo national park, the smallest in size in Uganda. Lunch in Mbarara town at a hotel. Afternoon, game drive in search of beautiful zebras, elands, Cape buffalos, impalas, oribi and topi. Along with Game drives, many visitors enjoy boat trips on Lake Mburo. The park is a good opportunity for bird watchers who will spot over 250 species of birds. Overnight at Acadia cottages on a full board basis.

Day 15:

Return to Entebbe through the Equator, stopping en route to shop for curio and at royal drum makers at Impigi town if necessary. On arrival to Entebbe you have an option for an extension to Ngamba Island or just relax at the hotel enjoying the white sand at the beach.

Day 16:

After breakfast, drive to Bukakata or entebbe to board the ferry boat to Ssese Islands, an archipelago of 84 island on Lake Victoria. After lunch, enjoy navigation on the lake which looks like an immense and peaceful sea. You reach the beautiful bay of Lutoboka, on Bugala Island, for dinner and overnight at resort.

Day 17:

Early morning, take a boat to Bukasa Island, the second largest. You will journey through the Ssese Islands and enjoy the beauty of the lake and forested Islands. Explore Bukasa and have lunch at a guest house. Return to Bugala Island by evening. Dinner and overnight at resort.

Day 18:

After breakfast, you will get on the ferry and head back to Entebbe arriving in the late morning an d in the afternoon after lunch you will go to Kampala for shopping and return in the evening to lodge.

NOTE: Uganda can be visited all year round but the best time to visit and really see wildlife is December to March and then June to October.
