Day by Day

Day 1: Arrival to Entebbe International Airport.

Meet our company representative at the airport, this is your day 1 and he will drive you to your Kampala accommodation for relaxation and overnight. En-route visit to the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe, then visit Botanical Gardens for birding and different tree species. Proceed to Kampala for your pre booked accommodation facility.

Day 2: Transfer to Katereke prison ditch and Mpanga Forest.

After breakfast drive to Buddo on Masaka road to visit the Katereke prison ditch which is located in a place called Nsangi, this is a tourist attraction on the Kabaka’s trail and it used to act as a place of brutal and vicious incidents in Buganda’s history, the Kabaka was insecure that his brothers or sisters would take over his throne, so he used to imprison them in this place. The place is now silent and well sheltered there are activities for visitors like traditional dances and music prepared by the people of the community and upon request. Later you will have en-route lunch then drive to Mpanga Forest home to about 181 species of butterflies, different monkeys and bush babies normally found during night guided walks.

Day 3: Transfer to Western Uganda for Nshenyi Village Tour.

After your snappy breakfast head out for a forest walk through Mpanga Forest then after meet with your driver and continue with the trip to Western Uganda the journey takes you roughly 4 hours or 5 hours with a stopover at the equator and en-route lunch in Mbarara town. Continue to proceed to Ankole farm at Nsenyi Village a traditionally pastoralist area. This is the place where the eminent long-horned Ankole cattle are reared within the rolling hills of the Ankole Kingdom. In this place you have to expect several activities like learning about Ankole history, participating in making ghee, grazing cattle, milking cows, traditional cooking, cultural stories and many more all done here at the farm.

Day 4: Still at Nsenyi Village.

Spend the whole day in this village participating in different traditional activities, smell the real farm scents, listen to the traditional ways of life among the local, watch, listen, learn, participate, cook and then taste the food and discover more about the Ankole history. Stay in the real Africa home setting feel the new home in Africa.

Day 5: transfer to Lake Bunyonyi stay at Bushara Island.

After having a morning cup of milk, drive heading to Lake Bunyonyi on Bushara Island. The drive takes you about 4 hours. Expect to enjoy the beauty of one of Africa’s most overwhelming Lakes on the Bushara Island. Relax and then be fresh for your dinner.

Day 6: Batwa pygmies’ excursions in Echuya Reserve.

After breakfast head out to Echuya Forest reserve for the Batwa pygmies visit, these are the most vulnerable, voiceless, relegated and endangered group of people within the Echuya Forest Reserve. This forest ranges between Lake Bunyonyi and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Learn about the Batwa daily routines, dance, dress codes, food, language and later return to the Island for your relaxation and wait for dinner.

Day 7: Transfer to Fort Portal

Following your breakfast start on your drive heading to Fort Portal within 5 hours you will be in the place make a short visit to the royal palace and the tombs of the Tooro Kingdom, this is an historical kingdom one of the most ancient ones in Uganda. Lunch will be en-route. Then check in to Lake Nyinabulitwa for relaxation and dinner.

Day 8: Bambuti pygmies and Semuliki Hot springs.

After your breakfast start with a visit to the village of the people known as the Bambuti pygmies, these people are also just like the Batwa pygmy people in matters of culture, they also live within hidden forested areas in the regions of western Uganda others live in Congo and Rwanda. Have en-route lunch then visit Semuliki National Park for the sempaya hot springs with scenic views of the Rwenzori slopes, make a day walk through the forest in the park up to the Sempaya hot springs where you can also boil your own eggs in case you carried row eggs for this particular purpose.

Day 9: Transfer to Kampala en-route Nakayima tree.

Following your breakfast, drive to Kampala with a short stopover visit on the way to Nakayima tree, this is an ancient traditional shrine in form of a tree it is well known as a witch tree it is famous to be a home for the spirits the former king of Bagwezi, Ndahura. It is a sacred place of both Baganda and Banyoro regarded as god of small pox. Also make a short visit to the Tanda pits these are famous in Buganda as they are believed to harbor (death) locally known as Walumbe. Have en route lunch and dinner later on in Kampala.

Day 10: Kampala-Jinja

Have your breakfast and then start on your day’s activities firstly visit the National Theater for the African crafty souvenirs, then drive to the Uganda Museum which holds ethnographic attributes of the Ugandan tribes, experience the old items that were used in the past by different tribes of the people in Uganda, view old traditional African musical instruments and many more. Have lunch then visit the Kasubi and Wamala tombs of Buganda, this place holds a lot of remains of the 4 Buganda Kings of the past. View the royal palace at Wamala plus the tomb of mother of King Suuna I. The tombs are well looked after up to date, later in the afternoon drive to Jinja for your next excursions reach and check in to your lodge for relaxation.

Day 11: Jinja tours-Sipi Falls

Have breakfast and then visit to the source of the Nile plus the Bujagali Falls and Itanda falls, have your lunch in Jinja town and then proceed with your journey to Sipi Falls within roughly 3 hours you will arrive at your lodge for relaxation and dinner.

Day 12: Nyero Rock Painting and Sipi Falls.

Have breakfast and then get on a drive for Nyero Rock Painting, this is a site that adds value on a trip for those interested in history and cultural experiences. There are beautiful rock arts, then the paintings that were made by our ancestors. The Batwa pygmy people are said to have adorned these concentric circles or acacia shaped pods in Nyero and today this place is dominated by the Itesot group of people. Return to your lodge have lunch and then visit the Sipi Falls for breathtaking photography, bath in the falls and have fun.

Day 13: Transfer to Entebbe for departure.

Have an early morning breakfast then drive through Sezibwa Falls, stop over and learn about the different shrines in Sezibwa falls, have a picnic lunch en route then drive up to Kampala then continue up to Entebbe airport. Depending on the time of your flight you may stop somewhere for last minute shopping then continue for your outbound flight.
